PET granulate

In 2004-2005, a greenfield PET production project was implemented in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

The project was part of an overall partly implemented integration strategy with downstream PET preforms production and upstream integration starting from crude oil processing (see Mazeikiu Nafta).

The plant became the largest PET facility in Europe with an initial production capacity of 308 kta increasing up to 350 kta. Equipment for a third production line with 154 kta capacity was also implemented at the plant.

The plant was located in the vicinity of the seaport of Klaipeda which had logistical advantages for the business. State-of-the-art technology available at the plant also guaranteed high quality production.

PCH sold the PET business in 2007.
